The Obese Are Frequent Targets for Cyberbullies.

Cyberbullying and negative messages targeting overweight and obese people are common on social media, a new study finds.

Researchers analyzed more than 1.3 million messages that contained the words “fat,” “obese,” “obesity” or “overweight.” The messages were posted on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, forums and blogs, as well as other types of social media. The messages were posted between January and March 2012.

Shameful seems that people that weigh more than others think they should are an acceptable target for bullies. If a person is anorexic that is acceptable and even encouraged. This is also a terrible situation as many starve themselves to death to stay think and acceptable. Young people are given the example from adult cyberbullies too as well as their peers. Many never recover their loss of self esteem. It is a real problem.
